‘Star Trek Beyond’ actor Anton Yelchin dies at 27

It is with great sadness that SciFiPulse must report the accidental and unexpected passing of Anton Yelchin, the young actor who has played the role of Pavel Chekov in the re-imagined original Star Trek by J.J. Abrams.

The official reports indicate that Yelchin met his untimely death at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Sunday morning June 19th, 2016, in a freak and fatal collision between his own vehicle, a brick mailbox pillar and security fence at the bottom of his driveway.

The actor who is being fondly remembered was apparently late to meet some friends and when he did not show up, his friends went to his home, only to find Yelchin deceased from his injuries.

Yelchin was an up and coming actor who appeared in other films such as Alpha Dog, Terminator Salvation, Odd Thomas, The Smurfs, among other films and was to also appear in Rememory, We Don’t Belong Here and this year’s soon to be released, Star Trek Beyond.

Anton Yelchin has been fondly remembered by his Star Trek costars soon after the news of his death on Sunday, with the Star Trek community of fans also remembering the young actor fondly and looking forward to his last Trek related performance with the release of Star Trek Beyond on July 22, 2016.
