After having just hired a new director, Justin Lin, for the upcoming Star Trek 3, Paramount Pictures has announced the official release date for the next Trek installment as July 8, 2016. Interestingly, 2016 also marks the official 50-year anniversary of the television launching of the much loved and legendary science-fiction series, which debuted on Sept. 8, 1966, on NBC and ran continuously for three full seasons.
While Warner Bros.’ live-action “Tarzan” movie as well as Steven Spielberg’s “The Bfg” open a week earlier, Star trek 3 is sure to leave a galactic mark on all of next year’s science fiction and adventure movies, as both David Ellison’s Skydance Producions and Abrams’ Bad Robot production studios know full well that this movie has 50 years of Trek history to live up to!
No pressure Justin & J.J.!!!
