According to Billy and Sam Koenig, they who control the lanyards of S.H.I.E.L.D., ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will have a bona fide comic book hero in it.
In a short video presented at the Friday Marvel TV Panel and Comic Con International in San Diego, the brothers, clones, or possible Life Model Decoys both played by Patton Oswalt announced a number of little news tidbits about the upcoming second season of AoS. Additional information from the actual panel, featuring the showrunners and stars of AoS and ‘Agent Carter’ also revealed additional details.
Barbara Morse, AKA as Mockingbird, is a S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent who, in the comics, used the costumed alias as Mockingbird, will be joining the adventure.
A New Baddie
Reed Diamond of ‘Dollhouse’ and Joss Whedon’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing,’ was announced as showing up early on in Season 2 as Daniel Whitehall, AKA Kraken in the comics.
More on Lucy Lawless
Lucy Lawless (‘Xena,’ ‘Spartacus’) will play “badass” Isabelle Hartley, “a longtime S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, so she has a history with Coulson,” said Executive Producer Maurissa Tancharoen. “She’s great, she’s badass, she’s everything that we love [about] Lucy Lawless. We’ve been huge fans of hers and we worked with her on ‘Spartacus,’ so we’re just thrilled that she’s joining us.”
A New Ally
“He’s not a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, he’s a mercenary,” Tancharoen said of new Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) will be seeking out allies in his efforts to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. Among those he’ll turn to will be Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), who in the comics was the director of S.T.R.I.K.E. (Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies), the UK’s version of S.H.I.E.L.D.
NEWS FOR AGENT CARTER
High Profile Captain America Directors
‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo will direct second and third episodes of the new series, which stars Hayley Atwell (of both Captain America movies) as Agent Peggy Carter. ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ director Joe Johnston wants to direct the fourth episode, if his schedule allows.
Rumors have been that Dominic Cooper would be part of the series. When asked about this, Executive Producer Jeph Loeb replied, “That would be fantastic if that could happen.”
A Man’s World?
When asked if there will be women other than Peggy Carter prominent in a series about a capable female agent in a world dominated by men, showrunner Michele Fazekas replied “We hope so. We actually have plans we couldn’t disclose to you. … There are other women in that world, too, who are just as powerful, both good and bad, who we hope to see.”
