‘Scream’ Television Show Gets 10 Episode Pick Up From MTV

The Network confirmed yesterday that they had picked up the 'Scream' series for 10 episodes, which will premier in October of 2015.

Wes Craven’s iconic ‘Scream’ movies are making the move from cinema into our living rooms with a new television series, which will be brought to us by MTV, who had a great deal of success with their re-imagining of ‘Teenwolf’.

The Network confirmed yesterday that they had picked up the ‘Scream’ series for 10 episodes, which will premier in October of 2015.

The series is based on Wes Craven’s 1996 postmodern slasher movie, which was written by Kevin Williamson and starred Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Drew Barrymore.

The ‘Scream’ movie spawned three sequels between 1997 and 2011.

It was recently revealed that the iconic Ghostface character from the movie series would not be a feature of the television series. At least not for the early episodes.

Ghostface designer RJ Torbert explained: “We believe Scream is Ghostface and Ghostface is Scream.

“However, while Ghostface is owned by Fun World, the Scream motion picture franchise is owned by The Weinstein Company, and it is their option to film a movie or TV show without Ghostface.

“Who knows what will happen in the future regarding the series and Ghostface? Never say never.”

The pilot episode of the series will begin with a series of youtube videos going viral and spawning a grizzly series of murders.
Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna and Carlson Young have been cast in the project.
