The animated series ‘Samurai Jack’ is to make a return to Adult Swim in 2016 after an eight year break from television.

Samurai Jack centres on Jack, a time-displaced samurai, as he travels back in time to defeat the demon Aku.

The original series – created by Genndy Tartakovsky – aired for four seasons from 2002 to 2007.

Tartakovsky, also known for ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ and ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’, is at work on the new show at Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles.

An exact return date for Samurai Jack is as yet unknown, but it will definitely be returning to Adult Swim at some point next year.
