Robert Rodríguez Bringing ‘Jonny Quest’ To The Big Screen

The 'Spy Kids' director is teaming up with Warner Bros and Terry Rossio (The Lone Ranger) to adapt a pre-existing screenplay penned by Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans).

Robert Rodriguez is to helm a movie adaptation of the popular animated series ‘Jonny Quest’.

The ‘Spy Kids’ director is teaming up with Warner Bros and Terry Rossio (The Lone Ranger) to adapt a pre-existing screenplay penned by Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans).

It isn’t known as yet what the story-line of this new ‘Jonny Quest’ adventure will be.

A prior film adaptation starring Zac Efron as Quest and Dwayne Johnson as bodyguard Race Bannon was announced in 2009, only for development to stall.

The original animated series, which was made by Hanna Barbara aired back in 1964, but enjoyed many repeat showings in syndication during the ensuing decades.

The original show followed Jonny, his Dad Dr Benton Quest and a small crew on adventures around the world as they battled evildoers.

‘Jonny Quest’ was later revived in New Adventures and Real Adventures spinoffs in the 1980s and 1990s. Computer games, a comic book series and home video films would follow
