Synopsis: In ‘Schooled’ a simple escort mission takes a frightening turn when the Killjoys discover students have mysteriously disappeared from a school for gifted Westerley children.
Review: Schooled sees the Killjoys having to take a warrant to escort a few gifted kids to a school for the gifted. However this school turns out to be a RAC experiment, which happens to have been where Khylen sent his final communication to before he was taken.
The episode sees the return of Mayko Nguyen as the politically motivated Delle Syah Kendry who is at the school doing some investigating of her own when Dutch and the Killjoys arrive.
The three kids that the Killjoys are escorting are all great performers, but it is Jake who is played by Jack Fulton who does the most heavy lifting of the younger cast members. Jake has won his place at the school and is very much looking forward to reconnecting with his older brother Olan.
Unfortunately due to the accident, which killed all but one of the kids in cryo stasis. Olan is the only surviver, but it seems that the contents of the message that Khylen sent has had a negative effect on his personality.
Schooled gives us another chance to see Dutch having to reluctantly work with Delle Syah Kendry, which is always fun because of the strongly implied sexual tension. We also get to see Pawter Simms and Johnny work together on their investigation of the cryo pods.
Meanwhile most of D’Avin’s scenes are with Jake and the children. Which provides a few cute laughs that are very much at his expense.
The final scene of the episode sees Fancy Lee breaking into a RAC facility to break Khylen out. It is an end note that leaves us all curious as to know what Khylen is up to. There first port of call being D’Avin and Johnny’s home planet. So they can figure out why D’Avin was immune to the green goo.
As always this episode provides some fast paced action with a lot of cute laughs along the way. But also provides just enough mystery to keep you wanting to find out more.
