ABC’s hit fantasy show ‘Once Upon A Time’ has made its stock and trade from mashing up many classic fairy tale characters and even changing the very nature of some.
Other than the evil queen turned good Regina another character that has done a u-turn is Captain Hook and it looks like the new current season will reveal more about Hook when his father makes an appearance on the show with some interesting backstory involving Regina.
Fans will be treated to more of Hook’s backstory, as flashbacks will show the pirate (Colin O’Donoghue) as a young boy. We’ll also get to see his father.
This news was announced by the producers over weekend at New York Comic Con.
The story will be broadcast before the show’s winter break – so we could be looking at a possible cliffhanger.
Executive producer Adam Horowitz said: “We’re going to see an adventure with Hook and the Evil Queen,” with fellow producer Eddy Kitsis adding: “We’ll see Hook as a little boy.”
Father and Son stories have been a mainstay on ‘Once Upon A Time’ since the start. One of the biggest having been Rumpelstiltskin and his son son Baelfire.
Added to all of this. We could be seeing another father son story play out for Rumpelstiltskin.
Kitsis said: “One way or the other, something’s gonna get done,” and Horowitz added: “We’re very, very happy for Emilie, and the only thing we can say is that Eddy and I promise not to deliver the baby.”
Once Upon A Time is shown on ABC on Sundays at 8/7c on ABC in the US. Netflix shows the series in the UK, with new episodes available every Wednesday.
