New ‘Doctor Who’ title sequence inspired by fan creation

Billy Hanshaw, a motion graphics designer from Leeds in West Yorkshire, put together his own version of a title sequence for the new Peter Capaldi-starring series

The new ‘Doctor Who’ title sequence, which will launch the newly regenerated Peter Capaldi as televisions 12th Doctor Who was apparently inspired by the creativity of  a fan who created an impressive ‘Doctor Who’ clip for youtube.

Billy Hanshaw, a motion graphics designer from Leeds in West Yorkshire, put together his own version of a title sequence for the new Peter Capaldi-starring series which received over 700,000 views and eventually caught the eye of  ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Steven Moffat.

You can view Henshaw’s original title sequence below:

Moffat said (via Doctor Who News): “Hanshaw created this title sequence, put it up on YouTube. I happened to cross it, and it was the only new title idea I’d seen since 1963.

“We got in touch with him, and said, okay, we’re going to do that one.”

The new ‘Doctor Who’ title sequence inspired by Hanshaw’s creation will be unveiled on Saturday, August 23, when series eight opener ‘Deep Breath’ airs at 7.50pm on BBC One.
