By this point Star Trek fans have seen the new and very brief Star Trek series trailer released by CBS which is set to soon begin production in Toronto Canada, with an anticipated release date of the show’s premiere episode sometime in January of 2017.
The upcoming and as of yet untitled series is being produced by CBS Television Studios with the very first premiere episode airing on the CBS Network and all first-run episodes that will follow will air exclusively on CBS All Access.
Now all of this is in fact old news by now, as are the rumors that the show will possibly take place some time after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and possibly before The Next Generation.
Likewise, rumor also has it that the series is potentially going to be some form of an Anthology series which will somehow move through the Star Trek timeline from season to season. And here is where the new Star trek series trailer may perhaps be pointing toward confirmation to some degree of this Anthology idea as some of the only words visibly seen in the trailer used a ‘plural’ phrase, “New Crews“.
By the same token, Star Trek alumni actor Tony Todd has indicated that he was to some degree in talks to be a part of the new Star Trek series and in a recent MORTIS interview, the actor had this to say about the pending production, “It’s a year away. They’re not even going to get official cast until, probably, the fourth quarter of the year . . . I’ve never done a series regular — I’ve always avoided it because I like playing different characters — but this is one year that we’re looking at some stuff, so I’m sure that we’re going to be popping up and everybody’s going to move on something real soon”
