‘MacGyver’ Movie In The Works

The new movie production is to be produced by 'Fast And The Furious' producer Neal Moritz who will work with the original 'MacGyver' creator Lee David Zlotoff.

It has been jumping around from studio to studio in Hollywood for a good few years now, but it now seems like a ‘MacGyver’ theatrical movie is in development with Lionsgate.

The new movie production is to be produced by ‘Fast And The Furious’ producer  Neal Moritz who will work with the original ‘MacGyver’ creator Lee David Zlotoff.

Zlotoff has pretty much had an attachment to most of the attempts at getting a ‘MacGyver’ movie made.

This news comes hot on the heals of the recent CBS announcement of a pilot for a new series of ‘MacGyver’, which is to be produced by ‘Saw’ and ‘Furious 7’ director James Wan and CBS TV Studios, with Paul Downs Colaizzo scripting. Wan previously developed a ‘Young MacGyver’ feature film focusing on the lead’s college years.

The ‘MacGyver’ movie was announced as part of Lionsgate’s analyst call, which took place on Friday 5 February.

‘MacGyver,’ which aired from 1985-92 on ABC, is about a former Special Forces who used science to help him escape dangerous situations while defeating bad guys. The series starred Richard Dean Anderson who later went on to play the much loved Colonel Jack O’Neill in the popular science fiction drama ‘Stargate SG-1’.
