Lucy Lawless, who made her name as a kick-ass no nonsense women in ‘Xena Warrior Princess’ is to play a role in the Sam Raimi produced ‘Evil Dead’ television series, which will act as a sequel to the film series and will star Bruce Campbell as Ash.

Lawless will play Ruby, a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem? She believes that Ash is the cause of it all.

This new Evil Dead series brings back Bruce Campbell as Ash, the stock boy/aging lothario/chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. But when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is forced to face his demons, personal and literal.

Ash vs. Evil Dead is set to film on location in New Zealand this spring, with an eye on a late 2015 premiere.
