The Netflix reboot of ‘Lost In Space’ has found its Judy Robinson and it needed only to look to ‘Falling Skies’ for the talented Taylor Russell to take on the role.
The role of John and Maureen’s eldest child was originated by Marta Kristen in the ’60s series, and later played by Heather Graham in the 1998 feature film.
Russell’s other notable credit is Lifetime’s ‘Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story’, in which she played Lark Voorhies.
The 10-episode, Legendary TV-produced family drama/sci-fi adventure, which was formally ordered in June and is set to premiere in 2018, will take its inspiration from the original ‘Lost In Space’ series, which followed the Robinson family as they were forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their charted destination, they found themselves battling a strange new alien environment and their own personal demons. As well as the treacherous Dr. Smith.
The series comes from writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) set as showrunner.
“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, back in June. “The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”
As fans of most things science fiction and fantasy related. We here at SciFiPulse.Net look forward to seeing how this latest reboot of ‘Lost In Space’ pans it.
After all. This is not the first time that someone has attempted to reboot ‘Lost In Space’ for television. An attempt was made a few years back, but never quite got off the ground. So it be interesting to see how this one turns out given that it seems to have gotten a green light and has some cast members in place. I look forward to seeing who they cast as Dr. Smith.
