The gorgeous, but ever so deadly Lesley-Ann Brandt is to replace Lina Esco in the new comic book drama ‘Lucifer’, which to to air later this year on Fox.

Brandt first came to the attention of genre fans when she played Naevia in the hit Starz series ‘Spartacus: Blood And Sand’ and its prequel series ‘Gods Of The Arena.’ Last year Brandt had star turn in the new TNT series ‘The Librarians’ in which she played the sexy assassin  Lamia, which is good preparation given that she will play a demon in ‘Lucifer’.

Deadline reports that the casting change was made after the script’s table read, with Brandt being brought in after originally auditioning for the role.

‘Lucifer’ follows the ruler of hell played by Tom Ellis, who out of boredom moves to Los Angeles.

Once in LA, Lucifer helps the police catch criminals and solve puzzling cases.

Brandt will play Lucifer’s best friend Maze, a beautiful demon.

‘Chicago Fire’ star Lauren German will star in the project as a homicide detective named Chloe Dancer, while DB Woodside, Rachael Harris and Nicholas Gonzalez also have roles.

Jerry Bruckheimer is executive producing alongside Len Wiseman. Tom Kapinos penned the script.

The Lucifer character first appeared in DC Comics in the early 1960s, but was given a new lease of life by Neil Gaiman in the 1980s.
