Apparently ‘Jurassic World’ was intended as more than seeing if the aging dinosaur franchise could be revived. It was and is intended to kick start a new trilogy of the films.
As readers will know. ‘Jurassic World’ became one of highest grossing movies of all time earlier in the year when it took a huge bite out of the international box office, which is a fact that hasn’t escaped Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow who plan to cash in while the going is good.
Spielberg and Trevorrow have apparently always planned on releasing a trilogy of Jurassic World films, but have only just informed Universal Pictures.
In a recent chat to Hollywood Reporter Universal Pictures’ chairman Donna Langley revealed trevorrow’s plans.
“Colin Trevorrow is busy working on an outline.
“He’s been working with Steven [Spielberg]. And they have an idea for the next two movies actually. It was designed as a trilogy, unbeknown to us. It’s a happy surprise.”
Elsewhere, the as-yet unnamed sequel to ‘Jurassic World’ will be released in the US on Friday, June 22, 2018, but will be out in UK cinemas from Thursday, June 7, 2018.
