Jerry Doyle (1956 – 2016)

The star of Babylon 5 has passed away at the age of 60.

It’s being reported by TMZ that Jerry Doyle has passed away in Las Vegas on Wednesday, July 27.

Doyle was best known for his role of Michael Garibaldi on the television series Babylon 5.

No cause of death has been reported. TMZ states, “Sources tell us … a call was made to his Las Vegas home yesterday afternoon after he was found unresponsive. It’s unclear how the political radio talk show host and actor died … but we’re told no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is pending.” As soon as more information is known, this posting will be updated.

Before becoming an actor, Doyle was a jet pilot and worked as stockbroker. IMDB lists his first acting assignment as a David Addison Wannabe on Moonlighting in 1987; Doyle was often told he looked like Bruce Willis. He appeared on episodes of Homefront, Renegade, Sliders, Beverly Hills 90210, JAG, NYPD Blue, as well as Babylon 5 from 1994 through 1998. He also was the voice of Captain Simian in the animated series Captain Simian & The Space Monkeys and he provided a voice for an episode of Duckman. The website states that he was going to work on a series titled The Circut that is currently in pre-production.

In 2000 he ran for the U.S House of Representatives for California’s 24th District, but lost.

He later went on to create The Jerry Doyle Show for radio, which became his main occupation. His libertarian/conservative talk show began on the Talk Radio Network and later became part of EpicTimes, a media platform he launched. A link to the website may be found below.

He was married to Babylon 5 co-star Andrea Thompson, who played telepath Talia Winters, from 1995 to 1997.

SciFiPulse expresses its condolences to Mr. Doyle’s family and friends.
