Anderson Entertainment, the company founded by Gerry Anderson MBE – creator of award-winning TV hits including Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray, UFO, Space: 1999 and Joe 90 – today announces the signing of a licensing agreement with ITV to produce a range of special Limited Edition collectibles over the next three years.
The first releases will include a Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Stingray lapel badge and a pair of digitally painted Space: 1999 posters by Eric Chu (Battlestar Gallactica, Beetlejuice) featuring the full main cast of Seasons 1 & 2 of the iconic 1970s science fiction series.
Jamie Anderson, Gerry’s son and Managing Director of Anderson Entertainment, says, “We’ll only produce a small, strictly limited number of high-quality pieces. Stingray first appeared in 1964, so we’ll only make 1,964 lapel badges and 1,999 of the posters for Space: 1999 – exclusively available from the Gerry Anderson online shop: shop.gerryanderson.co.uk”
Future items will include a range of special Limited Edition Thunderbirds collectibles that will be released for the classic show’s 50th anniversary next year, with more details to be announced in the coming months.
Jamie Anderson adds, “This licensing deal with ITV further cements the life-long partnership Anderson Entertainment has always enjoyed with Britain’s leading independent television producer, and will allow us to add to the celebrations planned with them for next year’s 50th Anniversary of the iconic, world-famous science fiction TV series Thunderbirds.”
Peter Greenwood, Anderson Entertainment’s worldwide licensing manager explains, “With its extensive archives and connections to cast and crew of classic Gerry Anderson’s classic productions, Anderson Entertainment is in a unique position to bring a collection of products to the table to give these timeless shows a new lease of life. We plan to give our fans and their families an invitation to come back and enjoy this vast creative output once more, and thanks to this new licensing agreement with ITV Studios we can do just that.”
“Authentic products like these with all the charm and creativity you’d expect from a Gerry Anderson production is what fans of all ages have come to expect. We are bringing a Walt Disney style of branding and merchandising to these classic properties, while at the same time cementing the groundwork for the newly developed productions and their associated licensing opportunities.”
