The race to capture the rare gemstone known as the “Eye of Judgment” continues – has brought both the crews of the noble Venture and the villainous Resolve to the Lost Land of Caspak!

Synopsis: The race to capture the rare gemstone known as the “Eye of Judgment” continues – has brought both the crews of the noble Venture and the villainous Resolve to the Lost Land of Caspak! But as they press on into the interior of the island, they’ll have to deal with the dangers of the native prehistoric flora and fauna – that is to say, the DINOSAURS!

Review: Bill Willingham continues his exploration of Edgar Rice Burroughs characters and plants them all on the same prehistoric island, which featured in The Lost World.

The issue gives us a few revelations about the Eye of Judgment, but we also learn a few secrets about the lost world of Caspak in regards to its original residents.

The issue introduces La Opar to the story and she provides a fun distraction with her romantic interest in Tarzan who of course is loyal to Jane.

With both Tarzan and his team and the crew of the Resolve on the island at the same time. The race is on to find the Gem Stone, but Jason Gridley has a plan that might help Tarzan and his friends get to it first.

Obviously with this issue taking place on the Lost World we get a fair few Dinosaurs and Cezar Razek fully commits to drawing them. In this issue alone we get a T – Rex and a few Pterodactyls.

For his part. Bill Willingham is doing a wonderful job of juggling so many characters around at once. It helps somewhat that Tarzan and Jason Gridley are leading the expedition. But somehow the writer is managing to give all the other characters a moment or two to shine.

I’m particularly enjoying the way in which Willingham is using Jason Gridley as our way into the story by having him as the main narrator.

Looking forward to the next issue to see how Willingham will bring Game Theory into the mix.
