Synopsis: Cisco is shocked when Gypsy’s father, Breacher, shows up on Earth – 1. Breacher takes an immediate disliking to Cisco and decides to hunt him. Meanwhile, Barry runs into his old nemesis, Ralph Dibny.

Review: The Flash continues to stroll on a lighter path than it has done in awhile, but this week did so by introducing one of my least favorite DC heroes.

The fun was had on two fronts. One the one hand you had Breacher who was played brilliantly by Danny Trejo, going all out to try and intimidate Cisco and scare him off from dating Gypsy. On the other, we got an origin story for Plastic Man, which isn’t really a spoiler when you look at the episode’s title.

Hartley Sawyer puts in a nice performance as Ralph Dibny who is a former colleague of Barry from his academy days. The story is as much about Dibny finding redemption for his past mistakes than it is about him becoming the Elongated Man aka Plastic Man.

If anything. Meeting Dibny gives Barry another piece to the puzzle of who he is up against this year. A big piece being the fact that it was a guy named Dafoe that told him to investigate the Mayor.

The sequences with Dibny learning about his newfound powers were funny. I loved how he suddenly gives himself abs. But also funny was when he was shot in the head and brought the bullet out through his nose.

Also comedic was the fact that Breacher decides to hunt Cisco to find out if he is worthy of his daughter. The climax of the hunt is that Cisco eventually grows a pair and stands his ground.

Overall. This was a fun episode with a lot of comedy, but I think the series could well be falling into the trap of going too far to the comedic side. Especially when you think of how much of a dangerous villain The Thinker is going to be.
