Description: Whether you know him from his iconic role as Batman in the 1966 television series or from his bizarre portrayal of the Mayor on Fox’s Family Guy, Adam West is sure to have made an impression. But few people know the man behind the mask.

Just released this past week on Playstation Network as part of their VOD service and also available on DVD is this insightful documentary, which charts a year in the life of Adam West, who was televisions Batman during the 6os and to many remains so.

The documentary is skillfully shot by James Tooley who spent years meeting the many fans and people who has profoundly impacted the life of Adam West.

West also speaks candidly about the darker side of his fame – particularly the period in the 70s and 80s where he was pretty much accepting whatever work he could get in order to both survive and keep his family well.

The film offers a glimpse of Adam West that not many people will get to see, but also gives an insight into the lives of some of the people that the actor has helped along the way. One such person being fellow voice actor and family guy co-stars Wally Wingert.

Wingert tells the story of his first meeting with Adam West at a convention and how West encouraged him to pursue his dream of being a voice over artist.

The documentary also has insights from the actors youngest daughter and her quest to get her fathers star on the Hollywood Walk of fame. A dream that finally became a reality in 2012.

‘Starring Adam West’ is well worth a look irrespective of whether you are a casual fan of an obsessed fan of the 60s series. It offers up an insightful look into the actors day to day life and also gives you look at the more human side to one of Hollywood’s most loved genre icons.

‘Starring Adam West’ is out now to rent or buy.
