Synopsis: The crew returns to Geonosis in search of a missing rebel team sent to investigate suspicious activity there. and are surprised by what they find.
Review: In many ways this episode would be a good one to watch as a sort of prequel of sorts to ‘Rogue One’ given that it gives us a look at Saw Gerrera before he got to the point of being as grizzled as we see him in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’. This version of Gerrera has less and also looks younger too. He is voiced by Forest Whitaker, which has me thinking that this is definitely a tie in of sorts.
Of course Gerrera is the rebel that the team finds and its fair to say that Ezra, Kanan and the others.
The first part sees Kanan, Ezra and Rex helping Gerrera to track a frightened bug, which turns out to be the last remaining resident of the planet. Naming him Click Clack the team proceed to try to get information from him about the empire, but Gerrera does not approve of the softly, softly approach, which is being employed by Ezra and proceeds to torture poor old Click Clack at every opportunity.
The information they are able to get from the little guy sees an egg being revealed of the last Queen of his species, which he is obviously trying to protect. But when asked about the Empire Click Clack draws a circle within a circle in the sand. Which is a tantalising hint as to the Empires plans and rather telling for fans of the Star Wars saga, but Ezra and the team mistake this clue for the egg as well as the logo on the gas canisters they find. When it is obvious to the rest of us that it is the Death Star.
When attacked by the Empire in the second half of the Ghost and rest of the crew have to descend the tunnel in order to save Kanan and the rest as well as themselves from the empire, but when they get to the bottom of the cave system they find a clue that confirms that the empire wiped out the planet with poison gas, but can only escape with photographs of the canisters.
Thankfully Click Clack is allowed to remain on the planet with the egg and has a chance of repopulating it and Gerrera is made to see sense when Rex appeals to his better nature.
With the inclusion of Bail Organa and Saw Gerrera this episode ties in well with future events and teases a lot of what we can expect to see in the future. The one question is. How close will events in Rebels wind up tying into ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.
It will be interesting to find out given that we saw the Ghost in during the films epic battle and General Syndulla was mentioned a few times in the films plot.
