Synopsis: When a footballer is brutally murdered, a key suspect is a man close to Drake’s heart.
Review: The past returns to haunt both Drake and Reid in the form of a young man that they allowed to walk free from a murder investigation 8 years prior.
When called in to investigate the murder of a footballer at the Whitechapel Ironworks Reid and Drake are reunited with the lad, who after a time becomes a suspect in the investigation.
This episode sees Reid and Drake falling by the end due to the fact that Reid chose to investigate the lads claims of honourable discharge from the army and inadvertently made him a suspect.
Meanwhile Jackson is still secretly slipping away to see Susan and the two are concocting a scheme together.
This was a pretty strong episode and provided a fair bit of drama and added tension to the friendship between Reid and Drake. Jake Mann puts in a fairly strong performance as Thomas Gower who is the young lad that both Drake and Reid let go eight years prior to events in this story. In the story Gower has developed an alcohol problem after having been dishonourably discharged from the army for near killing a fellow soldier. Turns out that Gower was friends with the murdered footballer.
A great addition to this story was Jackson using his study of blood splatter in order to help Reid and Drake find the real killer.
