Synopsis: Mattie asks Max to help save Leo from Hester’s influence. Toby receives a disturbing message from Renie, while Mia and Hester break into the Silo, but things don’t go to plan.
Review: Things continue to develop in this penultimate episode of the science fiction drama.
Karen leaves the child Synth with Pete as she makes her way to Qualia and Dr. Athena in the hope that she can help her become human and transfer her digital consciousness. Unbeknown to her Mia and Hester have broken into the Silo by pretending to be booted down.
Meanwhile Toby’s girlfriend Renie who has been acting like a Synth drops the persona and finally opens up to him as her more vulnerable human self.
Laura seeks Niska’s help as Mia and Hester prepare to break into the silo – but Niska refuses because she has found something more than herself that she feels is worth protecting.
The episode ends with a huge scene where Mia and Hester break all the synths out of the Silo, but when Hester goes back into the Silo in order to kill the high ups Mia is forced to go after her, which leaves things up to Leo to get the Synths out of there.
Having rescued a few of the Synths the episode ends with Max, Leo and Mia reunited and leading the few rescued Synths that made it back to their new safe place.
Although amid this win is the tragedy of Pete’s death at the hands of Hester whose prime motive seems to be the death of any humans that get in her way, but this could well be the end of Hester given that Karen could well be after her given how much she felt for Pete.
Given that this episode was so packed. I have to wonder how much story the writers have saved for next week’s finale.
Unlike last season where the arc started fast and sagged in the middle. This year has been paced just about right and as we get towards the last episode we still have a number of issues that remain unresolved.
Will Niska change her mind and meet back up with Leo and the others? Will Hester meet a nasty? And what of Athena’s quest to find a Synth host that’s strong enough to be a host for her late Daughters personality, which she has made into an AI.
Hopefully we’ll find some of these answers if not all in next week’s finale.
