Gordon takes matters into his own hands when he travels to Miami in an attempt to persuade Carmine Falcone into helping with his fight against Penguin.

Synopsis: Gordon takes matters into his own hands when he travels to Miami in an attempt to persuade Carmine Falcone into helping with his fight against Penguin. There, he meets Carmine’s daughter, Sofia, who unexpectedly follows Gordon back to Gotham. The battle for Penguin’s prized weaponry continues during auction night at the Iceberg Lounge and Bruce’s presence puts him on Penguins radar.

Review: The writers seem to be having a lot of fun this year with Bruce Wayne now pretty much beta testing various toys, which will become synonymous with his Batman identity, but it is the more subtle tools that need some work. Tools such as mastering the part of spoiled Billionaire Bruce Wayne or even the role of a street kid. David Mazouz and Sean Pertwee have a great deal of fun in their respective roles of Bruce Wayne and Alfred. I particularly enjoyed Alfred’s little speech concerning the actor’s toolkit is the ability to improvise. A speech that Bruce gets to throw back Alfred’s way later on in the episode.

The plot point concerning Gordon visiting Miami is set up for bringing Falcone’s daughter to Gotham, but Crystal Reed does pose a striking future villain or Allie as Sofia and I look forward to seeing how she is utilized as the writers add more pieces to their board.

The story thread concerning Bruce Wayne was pretty much the centrepiece of this story due to its focus on Ra’s al Ghul who is once again played brilliantly by Alexander Siddig. Basically, Bruce’s investigation reveals that Ra’s is interested in one of the weapons in Penguin’s collection and has hired some help in order to try and possess it.

Elsewhere in the episode, Riddle is finally thawed out, but there happen to be some consequences to having been frozen. Apparently Riddlers mind is not quite right and of course, Penguin is absolutely livid that someone would dare to steal his prized ornamental centrepiece from the Ice Lounge.

Fun episode with some pretty solid acting performances from all concerned. I look forward to seeing how some of this seasons setups will pay off later down the line.
