From Marvel Comics and the creative team of Rick Remender (writer), Stuart Immonen (artist), Wade Von Grawbadger (inker) and Marte Gracia (colorist, All New Captain America #5 is another great issue documenting Sam Wilson’s first adventure as Captain America!
But I simply have to say that as much as I enjoy Rick Remender’s work, it is the artistic style of Stuart Immonen that truly made reading this issue as enjoyable as it was. But in all fairness, seeing Sam Wilson’s Captain America use his mutant ability to communicate with all of the birds in the area, so that they may eat all of the fleas being released by Baron Zemo over Florida, in order to unleash a bioweapon upon the world and sterilize populations of ‘undesirables’, was quite a fun plot twist.
Plus, Mr. Remender also toyed with the book’s fans by making us think that the new Nomad, a.k.a. Ian Rogers was actually murdered by Baron Zimo, only to see him return to take on Zemo and give Captain America the ability to save the world. Which Cap in turn Cap does by capturing Luca, the boy responsible for the bioweapon, while Misty Knight stops Taskmaster from unleashing the fallback bioweapon bomb by simply paying him more money than he was being paid by HYDRA.
But like any epic comic book saga, there must always be a heavy price paid by the story’s hero and in this issue we see Sam Wilson’s hawk, Redwing, fall prey to Baron Blood, who is Zemo’s back up, back up plan to take over the world.
All in all, a hell of a fun book, which I highly recommend to everyone. Excelsior True Believers!
