Horowitz shoots down Doctor Who showrunner rumours

In an exchange on Twitter Horowitz shot down the rumour.

It would seem that where ‘Doctor Who’ is concerned there is no stopping the daily grind of the rumour mill and fan speculation.

A fairly recent rumour to be doing the rounds is that Steven Moffat will be stepping down as the shows main executive producer to be replaced by Anthony Horowitz, but apparently this isn’t the case.

In an exchange on Twitter Horowitz shot down the rumour.

When asked whether there was any truth to the rumour Horowitz tweeted “Unlikely” by way of an answer.

Moffat – who has served as head writer and executive producer on Doctor Who since 2009 – previously implied that he plans to remain with the show until its ninth series.

Given the quality of Horowitz work in both film and television. He’d definitely be on a short list of names if I were choosing a successor for Moffat, but we will have to wait and see what happens after series 9 of the series, which is when Moffat has hinted that he’d likely step down.

Series eight of Doctor Who continues this Saturday (September 6) with new episode ‘Robot of Sherwood’.
