HBO have given the thumbs up to J.J. Abrams and his team on their television reboot of the classic science fiction movie series ‘West World’.

The pilot episode of the show really managed to get some truly awesome star power behind it with the likes of Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Miranda Otto all playing roles.

Hopkins plays Dr. Robert Ford, the head of a futuristic theme park where robots go crazy and attack the guests.

The series is a brand new take on the 1973 Michael Crichton film, which starred the late Yul Brynner and Richard Benjamin.

In this new version of the story the amusement park’s androids — played by Marsden, Newton and Wood — can die and return with new personas, which means the actors can play several characters. Which is pretty cool for the actors because it means they will continually be challenged to come up with new persona’s based on the scripts they are given.

Westworld‘s creative team includes exec producers/writers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and exec producers J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk.

Westworld‘s premiere is slated for sometime in 2015.
