HBO Looking Into A Zack Snyder ‘Watchmen’ TV Series

HBO are looking to expand their range of fantasy series and have been looking at the potential of a TV series based on Alan Moore’s popular ‘Watchmen’ comic book series.

In 2009 Zack Snyder did a movie adaptation, which proved to be a mammoth uphill struggle for him due to the comic books interconnected and referential storylines. In fact its a miner Miracle that Snyder was able to make the film at all given the amount of material that is in the comic books.

It with all this in mind that Snyder has approached HBO with a view to having a second bite at the ‘Watchmen’ cherry, but for television.

Various sources and reports have revealed that Snyder has taken a few meetings with execs at HBO to try and sell them on the idea.

As to whether the series would be a re imagining of the movie or a prequel series remains to be seen.

No firm plans have been made yet and with HBO being as business savvy as they are. I doubt we’ll hear anything concrete about this until such times as they get a series before the cameras. If indeed things get that far.

But given the complexity of ‘Watchmen’ as a rich character driven story. I should imagine that a TV version of the comic books main story could play well on a channel like HBO.
