Former ‘Doctor Who’ Star Leading The Race For ‘Fantastic Beasts’

The upcoming film is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and the adventures of its author Scamander (the pen name adopted by Rowling).

Reports have been coming in thick and fast over the last few days that Matt Smith, who is best known as the 11th Doctor Who is leading the race for the role of Newt Scamander in the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.

The general consensus is that Smith, who played perhaps the most alien of Doctor Who’s in decades could bring a sense of magic to the heroic newt character.

The upcoming film is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and the adventures of its author Scamander (the pen name adopted by Rowling).

The project’s producer David Heyman previously said that he is not thinking about any sequels just yet.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is due to hit cinemas on November 18, 2016.
