Born in Evansville, Indiana, the young actor studied literature and drama at the University of Evansville, before beginning his Hollywood career in the early 1970’s with appearances on “All in the Family“, “Hawaii Five-O” and “Sanford and Son“.
Following a successful and acclaimed run on “Barney Miller,” Glass then co-stared star in the 1980’s remake of “The Odd Couple“, along with appearances on many shows including, “Family Matters“, “Murder, She Wrote“,and “The Twilight Zone” among other notable televisions parts such as playing Ross Geller’s divorce attorney in “Friends“.
However it is within the genre of science fiction that Glass would find additional fame when he joined the cast of Joss Whedon’s cult favorite, “Firefly” in 2002 as the very mysterious yet spiritual father figure aboard Serenity.
So it is with heavy hearts that fans along with Ron Glass’s fellow Firefly actors bid the well loved and much admired actor farewell, with Firefly creator Joss Whedon having this to say, “He got there with grace, humor & enormous heart. He was, among so many other things, my Shepherd. Raise, appropriately, a glass. Rest, Ron.”
