It is always nice to report on big Hollywood stars doing something special for fans. Avengers stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow did just that two days ago when they visited a sick teen who is a huge fan of Captain America and the Avengers.

Ryan Wilcox  is currently battling cancer in El Cajon California and as the teen is homebound while he receives various treatments against leukemia, the three Marvel Cinematic Universe film stars paid him an hour long surprise visit directly to his doorstep.

I was so surprised, I was like, ‘WHAT?!’ when I saw them,” said the 18 year old Ryan. “I told them how much I liked them, and their movies. They asked me which one was my favorite… They are so awesome. This was overwhelming. It was great.

While the young teen’s favorite hero is Captain America, Downey and Paltrow did not hold it against him. The stars stars brought the young man of the hour gifts, spent time talking with him about his favorite Marvel films, signed Ryan’s bedroom wall and posed for photos with Wilcox and his family.

Interestingly, this visit came as a follow up to an outpouring of support by Ryan’s high school. There was even a planned event to support Ryan at Grossmont High, which was attended by hundreds of Ryan’s supporters. Chris Evans went so far as to make a surprise personal video for Ryan at this event in which he thanked Ryan for not only being a fan, but wished him luck in his fight against cancer. Evans in fact went so far as to tell Wilcox that it was Ryan who was the true hero as he had personally inspired Evans!

Well done Avengers and right along with Ryan’s amazing inner strength and determination to continue on against seemingly impossible odds, these big screen heroes acted more like their movie counterparts.  They each understand that we all need to be more like Ryan Wilcox by being willing to give everything you have for something you believe in and want to accomplish, which is exactly what being a hero is all about!
