Doctor Who: Toby Whithouse Teases ‘Under The Lake’

The episode is set on a submarine and has ghosts and sub-aquatic monsters that will dog the Doctor and Clara for the next two weeks.

This weekends episode of ‘Doctor Who’ titled ‘Under The Lake’ is looking set to be of the creepy variety and one person that hopes it will scare the socks off of the kids is writer Toby Whithouse.

The episode is set on a submarine and has ghosts and sub-aquatic monsters that will dog the Doctor and Clara for the next two weeks.

“The story begins on an underwater base in Scotland, about 100 years in the future,’ Said Whithouse during a brief interview for TV & Satellite Week. The crew have just found an abandoned space ship at the bottom of a lake and brought it on board. In the best tradition of horror tales, by bringing ancient things on board they have unwittingly unleashed a curse.”

A big part of this curse is what happens to people when they die.

“Whenever somebody is killed, their ghost appears soon afterwards. So in the first episode, the Doctor and Clara arrive on the base to find it deserted. And while they’re investigating they come across two ghosts.”

‘Doctor Who’ continues on BBC One at 8:25PM on Saturday 3 October.
