The series nine production of ‘Doctor Who’ has started hiring new directors for the ninth series, which will be the second to feature new Doctor Peter Capaldi.
The first of the new directors to be hired for the series is Daniel O’Hara who is perhaps best known to genre fans for some of the impressive work that he did on the original UK version of ‘Being Human’.
O’Hara’s client page on The Agency site appears to list him as director for two episodes of the BBC sci-fi drama’s next run.
The directors past credits include include eight episodes of ‘Being Human’ between 2011 and 2013, and three episodes of spy series ‘The Game’ by ‘Being Human’ creator – and Doctor Who writer – Toby Whithouse.
O’Hara also directed four instalments of CBBC’s ‘Wizards vs Aliens’ – co-created by Russell T Davies – as well as episodes of ‘Silent Witness,’ ‘Beaver Falls’ and ‘Skins.’
The ninth series of Doctor Who – launching on BBC One in late 2015 – will again star Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, with the latter having recently confirmed her involvement with the new episodes.
The series premiere, written by showrunner Steven Moffat, is titled ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’.
