Doctor Who: ‘Blink’ Director Hettie MacDonald Returning For Series 9

This will be the first time the director has been behind the camera for 'Doctor Who' since 2007. She has more recently worked on Sky Atlantic thriller 'Fortitude.'

Director Hettie MacDonald directed one of the best episodes of the modern series of ‘Doctor Who’ with ‘Blink’.

It’s fair to say that ‘Blink’ is either near the top or at the top of most peoples top ten lists when it comes to both the classic series and modern series of the series.

So it’s with great excitement for me to learn that Hettie MacDonald the director of the episode is returning to ‘Doctor Who’ for its ninth series.

This will be the first time the director has been behind the camera for ‘Doctor Who’ since 2007. She has more recently worked on Sky Atlantic thriller ‘Fortitude.’

Shooting for the second block of the upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ series – starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman – began today (Thursday, February 12), the BBC also revealed.

Director of photography Ali Asad has recently hinted that some filming for the show could take place in Spain.
Toby Whithouse, Paul Kaye, Arsher Ali, Morven Christie and Colin McFarlane were announced last month to be appearing in a two-parter.

The series nine premier ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ is once again written by Steven Moffat.
Series nine of ‘Doctor Who’ will premier sometime in the Autumn.
