Review: ‘Welcome To Your New Home’ wastes very little time in setting this new season up.

As you recall Six found out that he was a security officer toward the close of the first season and a dutiful one at that because it is his doing that his crew mates are in a super max prison.

We learn the true identities of the crew in this episode, but I get the impression that these identities could well be manufactured. The reason being is their seems to be some sort of corporate interest in having the crew in the prison system. It’s very obvious that Six is a pawn in a much bigger game here.

This opening episode sees Two, Three and Four casing out the prison for any vulnerabilities. But this also introduces a few new interesting characters that will either help or hinder their project.

One seems to have gotten a pretty good deal in that he is apparently the heir to a wealthy industrialist family, but the episodes cliffhanger seems to put an end to any hopes that he had of going home. That said though One was not comfortable with his new found wealth and was getting suspicious about the whole thing.

The introduction of Nyx Harper (Melanie Liburdwas a lot of fun and could make for interesting conflicts as the season moves forward given that Two is for now going along with her.

The Android meanwhile has pretty much been impounded and is refusing to co-operate with the official that has been sent in to go through her software.

Five meanwhile has been remanded to youth services, but a higher power in the government system takes her into custody when she is about to be transferred.

‘Welcome To Your New Home’ is very much set up for what will be this years story arc and it shows a great deal of potential. I liked the fact that Six was the one that turned his crew mates in and is now looking to try and make amends by investigating what happened. Carlo Rota puts in a fantastic turn as the prisons Warden who seems to be one of the key players in this conspiracy.

With all the pieces on the board in place. I look forward to seeing how everything unravels in the weeks ahead.
