CW’s President Would Love To Broadcast A New ‘Star Trek’ Series

While speaking to the press at the Winter TCA Press Tour CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed that he'd love to see a new 'Star Trek' series broadcasts on CW.

This year marks ten years since Captain Archer and the cast and crew of ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ were unceremoniously cancelled by the powers that be.

Since that time we have seen a massively successful movie reboot of the original ‘Star Trek’ crew, but have yet to see a new television series, but there could be a little hope.

While speaking to the press at the Winter TCA Press Tour CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed that he’d love to see a new ‘Star Trek’ series broadcasts on CW.

“As a life-long Star Trek fan, I would hope to have Star Trek at The CW,” Pedowitz told press at the TCA winter press tour. “[But] I have heard no discussion about it going out as a TV series at all.”

CW as you will recall was made up of content from WB  and UPN. The modern ‘Star Trek’ shows, which started in 1986 with ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and concluded with ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ back in 2005 all aired on UPN before the two channels become CW.
‘Hannibal‘s’ Bryan Fuller and ‘Battlestar Galactica‘s’ Ron Moore are among those to have expressed an interest in bringing the property back to television.

Since the cancellation of ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ in 2005 fans have been dependent on re-runs as well as fan productions, which take place within the ‘Star Trek’ universe, but there hasn’t really been a great deal of forward momentum on any new official ‘Star Trek’ television series. So perhaps television execs should take a note from Captain Picard’s book and see if there is still an audience out there to join them on a voyage of discovery into the final frontier.
We say, “Make it so.”
