Could Jenna Coleman be returning to ‘Doctor Who’?

It has almost been a year since fans witness the heartbreaking departure of Clara from ‘Doctor Who’.

Fans will remember that Clara erased the Doctors memories of her so that her fate would no longer be a burden to him in the episode ‘Hell Bent’.

At the recent Awesome Con in Washington Peter Capaldi was reunited with Jenna Coleman and he teased fans with what may or may not be a potential spoiler for the next series. Capaldi let slip that Clara’s mind wipe of the Doctor may not have fully took.

“I’m not sure how successfully Clara was able to wipe his mind,” Capaldi told fans (via Radio Times), then teasing: “I just… I was about to tell you something I can’t tell you.”

He then revealed: “I just shot something that Clara was still there in!”

The BBC who make the show have thus far kept quiet about the possibility of a return for Clara. A come back for the character is not guaranteed and it be worth taking Capaldi’s teasing of it with a pinch of salt.

Capaldi may well have been referring  to working on something other than a proper Doctor Who episode, since filming on series 10 apparently will start in two weeks’ time.

These new episodes will introduced the Doctors latest companion Bill. Who is to be played by newcomer Pearl Mackie.

‘Doctor Who’ is taking a break this year due to the Olympic Games and as such will not return to our screens until the Christmas Special, which will lead into Steven Moffat’s last hurrah as showrunner some time in 2017.

As to whether we’ll a see brief return for Jenna Coleman remains to be seen. Personally I hope that they can manage to do a series without her and save any potential return for a later date.
