CBS’s Supergirl is one big ‘Superfamily’

Past Supergirl, Laura Vandervoort, cast as Supergirl's recurring Super Villian, Indigo.

CBS recently cast  Laura Vandervoort in the recurring Super Villian role of Indigo on its hit Super series, Supergirl. What makes this casting so much fun is that Vandervoort was in the past cast as Superman’s intergalactic cousin Kara, on the most recent Smallville show about Superboy.

While fans always like those kinds of insider tid-bits of fun facts about the favorite and/or much loved series, even more interesting is the fact that Vandervoort is by far not the only Super-cast member on CBS’s Super-show.

In fact, this current Supergirl series has all three actresses who have all portrayed live action versions of Supergirl at one point or another. This includes Helen Slater (herself a graduate of the Famed Music & Art school in N.Y. City) who played the first Supergirl in the 1984 movie and now portrays Supergirl’s adopted Mother, Eliza Danvers.

Likewise, there is of course the star of the current CBS Supergirl series, Melissa Benoist; the actress who plays Supergirl presently. So what is so very fun is getting to actually have all three Supergirl actresses on the show at the same time.

But as if that was not cool enough, Dean Cain who starred as Superman himself on The Adventures of Lois and Clark, also happens to play Slater’s on-air husband, Jeremiah Danvers. So in fact the show has three Supergirl Super-Alumni and one Super-Dad currently cast on the series, which should always bring a smile to any fan’s Super-heart!
