Cafe at the end of the universe – geek sci-fi burger bar seeks crowd funding

Andrew and Laura Kinsella are two fans that are daring to dream big and are looking for your support to make something special happen in Manchester in the form of 'Cafe At The End Of The Universe,'

Over the years we have seen a few businesses open up with a particular scifi theme here in the UK as well as the USA.

A good example in the UK would be The FAB Cafe, which is a food and drinks venue in Manchester, which hosts various special events and is a regular meeting place for science fiction and fantasy fans in both Manchester and Leeds. A number of years back we also had the legendary Page’s Bar, which pretty much was the first place that I ever heard of where science fiction fans and cos players were welcome.

To many in the mainstream we are thought of as odd, sad, geeks. Basically because we do not particular enjoy discussing the latest reality tv show or the last big football game around the water cooler. But Star Trek, Battlestar Galactia, Babylon 5 and about anything else over a plate of Dolphin and Chips is just great.

To this end a friend and regular reader of scifipulse.net who lives fairly close to me is trying to get a new sci-fi burger bar up and running in Manchester.

Andrew and Laura Kinsella are two fans that are daring to dream big and are looking for your support to make something special happen in Manchester in the form of ‘Cafe At The End Of The Universe,’ which is a geek sci-fi burger bar for fans to hang out at and maybe engage in a few games of pyramid.

“We want to create, not only a cafe, but a social hub for fans to enjoy. Sci-fi, Fantasy, Comics, Games, GEEKS, whatever label you want to put on it we are passionate about these things and know we are not the only ones.”

The brother and sister team enjoyed some success last year when they launched a special one off fast food menu as part of Manchester’s Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebrations. So they know what they are doing and also enjoy good food.

The Kickstarter Campaign has been active for a couple of weeks and has already made £4,096, but they still need our help in order to reach their final goal.

So if you are a fan that lives in the UK and would like to see a new Cafe specifically designed as a hang out for fans of science fiction and geek culture your pledges would be much appreciated.

Andrew and Laura have some interesting perks on their kickstarter site. So the more you pledge the more you can get for your credits.

To support this project head on over to www.kickstarter.com/projects/1820551321/cafe-at-the-end-of-the-universe-geek-sci-fi-burger pledge some funds to help make this happen. And please tell your friends and their friends too.
