It looks like BBC America are preparing to have a go at producing a new revamped series of ‘Dirk Gently,’ which is based on the holistic detective character, which was created by the late Douglas Adams.

This news comes just a couple of years after the BBC cancelled their first try at a series, which starred Stephen Mangan as the titular character.

This new version of the series is being written by Max Landis who is best known for his work on the movie ‘Chronicle’.

The new version of Dirk Gently will be an anthology series  “set in the unexpected world of the hyper, absurd, ridiculous Dirk Gently. With an utterly fresh, comically self-aware tone, this series is equally sincere in its danger, humor, violence and drama.”

The series was announced last Friday at the TCA’s. At present no casting announcements have been made, but it will be interesting to see a new version of this much loved Douglas Adams creation.
