The new Starz series ‘American Gods’, which is based on the novel from Neil Gaiman is to premier in the UK on Amazon Prime in 2017.

The series stars Ricky Whittle as an Ex Con who is recruited by the mysterious Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane) for a mission that takes him across America.

Gillian Anderson, Emily Browning, Kristin Chenoweth and Pablo Schreiber – yes, ‘Orange is the New Black’s’ Pornstache – have also been cast.

“Adapted from Neil Gaiman’s beloved novel, American Gods is one of the most ambitious new television series coming out in 2017,” says Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Television Acquisition for Amazon.

“It joins our roster of exciting, high-quality Original and exclusive shows for our Prime members including, this year, the highly anticipated The Grand Tour, Mr Robot, Preacher, Lucifer and the return of The Man in the High Castle.”

Starz and Amazon are yet to announce US and UK launch dates for American Gods – but Gaiman himself has already seen some footage… and by all accounts, it’s looking pretty damn good.
